The fixed format epub is used for children’s books, some cookbooks, coffee table books, etc. It’s used for less than 5% of all ebook files. Fixed format pricing is a little different from reflowable books, in that it’s based on page count instead of word count. You’ll receive 3 different file types:
- Mobi file for Kindle that features magnified text. This can be used for most of the newer Kindle ereaders. This file can be either in spreads view or 1-up view.
- iPad/iPhone/Kobo file that looks like a real children’s book. 2-page spread view only. Fully zoomable text and images.
- A stripped-down version for Nook so that you can publish on Nook Press (this is NOT Nook’s proprietary ebook format that they’ve developed for kids books).
